An Outstanding Place for Teachers and Children

                   對老師與孩子都很棒的好地方 (Teacher Chris)

 

Teaching English as a second language in Taiwan is an experience that is not easily matched anywhere else in the world. Having lived here for 6 years, I gained a lot of experience and knowledge in terms of Teaching in Taiwan. After so many years, it’s natural that I have also grown more accustomed to the local culture and day to day life on this wonderful island. Truth be told, it feels a lot like home by now. I spend a lot of my time teaching throughout the week, so the school where I am employed plays a big role in my general experience in Taiwan.

在英語為第二語言的台灣教學是一個不同於世界其他地方的經驗。在台灣居住 6 年，我在教學中獲得了很多經驗和知識。經過這麼多年，自然的，我也變得更加適應這美好島嶼的文化和每天的生活。事實上，我感覺就像回家了。整個星期我花了很多時間在教學上，因此，我任教的學校對我的經驗起了很大的作用。

 

When I first visited Walton School, the first thing I noticed is just what catches the eye. The school is very well designed, perfectly maintained and absolutely gorgeous. It’s really hard to miss that. At the time, I was only helping out because a teacher was unable to work for a week or so. I enjoyed working there enough that at the end of the week I inquired about the possibilities of being added to the team permanently. So far so good, I’m content to have made this change in my life, and I’m very happy with the progress of my students under the Walton School umbrella.

當我第一次來到華頓幼稚園，我發現的第一件事是，它很引人注目。這所學校是非常精心設計的，且相當完美華麗，實在很難令人忽視。當時，因為一位老師請假一個星期左右，我只是來幫忙而已。我非常喜愛在此工作，於是在最後一天我詢問是否有機會加入這個團隊。到目前為止一切都很好，我非常滿意我做的決定，而且我也很高興我的學生在華頓學習進步。

 

In my honest opinion, Walton School is an outstanding learning establishment, and a great school to work for. Walton school is a family run operation, and while they do run a very tight ship, they are good folks who have a passion for children that is brightly reflected throughout the school. Many teachers and other employees who work for Walton school tend to be stable, and the school has an excellent reputation among the expat community in Kaohsiung. The local teachers, in my experience, are also outstanding. It’s a pleasure and a learning experience to work with them.

依我真誠之見，華頓是一間出色的學習機構，且是值得工作的好學校。華頓是家族經營的機構，且管理嚴謹，他們是一群熱愛兒童的人，這明顯反映在整個學校中。許多在華頓工作的教師和員工都很穩定，學校在高雄外籍人士中也有良好的聲譽。根據我的經驗，這裡的中籍教師也很出色，與他們一起工作是一種快樂和學習。

 

Time flies, doesn’t it? It’s incredible. We used to be kids, too, you know… We only get to be children once in our life and it’s something, I think, Walton School holds in its philosophy and in its foundation. This said, the world is a competitive place nowadays, and not only do we need our children to learn, but we need them to learn fast. It can be a juggling act to find the right balance as to prepare our children with a good knowledge base meanwhile allowing them to be kids and live their childhood to the fullest. Put simply, Walton School offers a strict, but fun, interesting, and thoughtful learning environment for young learners, and that’s why I’m happy to be a part of it.

時光如梭，不是嗎？難以置信，我們也曾經是小孩子，你知道 ... 我們只有一個童年，我認為華頓擁有這個哲學和基礎。如今世界充滿競爭力，我們不僅要我們的孩子學習，更要他們學習地快。華頓很巧妙地找到正確的平衡，提供孩子良好的知識基礎，同時使他們擁有完整的童年生活。簡而言之，華頓提供孩子們一個嚴謹，但有趣且周到的學習環境，所以我很高興能夠成為華頓的一分子。
